MASK Mandate
There have been questions about whether we, the Health Cabinet, would advise the administration regarding the option of wearing masks in the church or hall.
We understand the “wearing a mask mandate” has been dropped. We welcome all back into the church so that we may commune together in body and spirit.
The caveat is that the State of California, County of Alameda, UCSF, and other health entities ask that we consider wearing masks in crowded indoor public places, especially those people who are vulnerable.

FREE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
In the Mental Health First Aid course, participants learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related challenge, in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Nearly 3 million adults in the U.S. have gone through this training
Who can be trained:
- Adult -Anyone age 18 and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem.
- Youth – Primarily intended for adults to learn how to help young people experiencing mental health challenges or crises. It reviews the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents ages 12-18 and emphasizes the importance of early intervention.
Topics covered:
- Anxiety disorders
- Trauma
- Psychosis
- Substance Use disorders
- Depression and mood disorders
Mental Health First Aid teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.
Normally there is a cost for this day-long (9:00 – 3:30) online training, but California residents can take advantage of this excellent training free of charge, thanks to a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Upcoming dates for the training are July 26 and August 23, and added dates may become available.
